I'm Chris and my family and I own, raise, train, show and sell Percheron Draft Horses
that typically weight right around a ton, hence the blog title.
This blog mostly will contain current events in my life long adventure with horses.
It can sometimes be a bumpy road but the joys far out weight the heartache that comes
with the territory of owning horses.
We are pretty mainstream. We recently moved to the Eastern Tennesse area and enjoy spending our time participating in
shows, parades and other horsey events.
Our farm site is
Whispering
Meadows Percherons. Like all things in our life, it's a work in progress.
Enjoy your visit.

I live on a dead-end road that's about 1/2 mile from a major road. One of the neighbor's kids used to think it was grand to watch us chase the horses (I've almost always had at least 4 horses)when they occasionally got out... so he would periodically sneak up and open the gates. All of our horses are equipped with gate-radar so of course they would immediately get out. The worst ever time all my horses ran down to the major road but wheeled back around at the last moment... I was FRANTIC... then to make matters worse the end of the road neighbor's stud got out and was running with my horses!!! Aieeeee that was a long night but we did get everyone up safely.
Just a few years ago a horse was hit right where my horses had almost gone into the road. Killed the horse and seriously damaged the vehicle, although no one was hurt. Luckily I have LOTS of relatives here and at least one of them is usually running the scanner, so the second the call went out to the police I had relatives calling me to do a horse check... really gets the nerves going! I don't know how the law works where you are but here if you're horse gets out and causes an accident and doesn't have a halter on, then you're charged with neglect (or whatever it is where your negligence caused something to happen)... however if the horse has a halter on... it's "ok". Strange law I think.
Sounds like y'all had quite a time! Hope everything went well and look forward to seeing pictures and hearing the results!!
